Up & Up

September 27, 2012 by The Squishy Monster

This week has been another flurry of activity but aside from work and a tiny hiccup, it was a great week so far with Daddy’s birthday at the end of the week to cap everything off in the best way possible–with food and family!

I had my biopsy on Monday and I’m happy to report that everything is free and clear.  I was so nervous and 15 minutes seemed to stretch out to an eternity.  I had music flowing in my ears and scrutinized the ceiling so much that we’re practically best friends now having bonded over an intimate rendition of “The Autumn Leaves.”  A moment of clarity was given to me only moments before.

Set on the 9th floor, the sun was beaming down on the city skyline and I got the best view ever.  I saw everything scaled down to miniature proportions and then, it didn’t seem so scary to be there after all.

I’m also happy to share that Daddy got his poetry published in several Korean books and in the Korean paper in Atlanta!

I have an autographed copy to keep for myself ;) That tickled me pink!

…and here’s my food round up of the week:

Grilled Shrimp/Veggie Kabobs, Rice Pilaf, Cucumber Raita, Greek Salad, and Pita

Agedashi Tofu

and sometimes, you just feel like a burger =D

Nat “King” Cole “Autumn Leaves”

Thank you so much for all of your support–I love you all, more than you know!

Love,

A very grateful Squishy Monster ^.~

I haven’t had good agadashi tofu in a while. The last place I got it at somehow made it chewy and bland. ._.

    • The Squishy Monster says:

It really is a toss up–my favorite place to get it is half sitting in a pool of sauce but is still somehow crispy…and they’re these gigantic cubes of hot tofu—Mmm!!

  16. Lots of great news and glad biopsy went well. Oh LOVE Agedashi Tofu!

  17. I enjoy a busy week myself, keeps me from having time to over analyze things going on around me.

That is GREAT news Angie, praise the Lord you are okay. It seems a few friends and family have been facing some sort of medical drama lately. I’m happy for your clean report. <3

It seems artistic creation runs in the family, you with your delectable culinary skills and your father with his poetry. Make sure to tell him congratulation from the fuzzy monster. ~.^ I must say, I'm just as curious to hear his poems as I am to taste your cooking. ;)

Such a beautiful song, I enjoy me some Nat King Cole; he's one of my favorite crooners. They just don't sing like that nowadays.

As always, your food looks most delicious!! Kabobs would hit the spot right about now.

    Thanks SO much for sharing.

    -Paul

    • …and tell him Happy Birthday too! :D

    • The Squishy Monster says:

Thank you, Paul! I hope your friends/family have a clean bill of health too–it’s so scary when your health is on the rocks :/ Looove Nat King Cole, you’re right, they really don’t make music like this anymore!

      • You’re very welcome Angie. Their test did come back clear, praise God. It is very scary. Everyday it seems like there is more to be worried about health wise. But we can’t let our focus be negative, I believe negative thinking can only worsen our state of health- mental and physical.

Yeah I’m not really a fan of the music industry as it has become. I tend to think there is too much corporate input into what an artist produces. Watching this rain drizzle by puts me in the mood from some old classics, hmmm where to start.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

        -Paul
