Banchan aka Side Dish, and to begin our collection, here are a few Korean Side Dishes, that along with this beautiful crunchy Broccoli Salad comes up in mere minutes.
Drinks that can be whipped up in 5 minutes:
Blueberry Kale Smoothie, my favorite!
Even Rice Cakes can be made in just 10 minutes. {Not bad for something that used to take hours}!
To make this beautifully crunchy and flavorful Broccoli Salad, you don’t even need 10 whole minutes. You’re just 5 minutes away from a unique salad that can be eaten as is or tumbled into Bibimbap!
Ingredients
- 1 Head Broccoli, cut into Florets
- 3 tb Gochujang (Korean Hot Pepper Paste)
- 1 tb Sesame Oil
- 1 tb Sesame Seeds
- 2 ts Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 tb Brown Sugar
- Black Pepper
- Green Onion Garnish.
Instructions
- Boil your water and salt it well.
- Toss in your florets and cook for no longer than 3 minutes.
- Immediately plunge them into an ice bath to stop the cooking process and retain their vibrant green color.
- Tumble in all of your ingredients and mix well. Garnish with Green Onions.
- Serve immediately, at room temperature, in Bibimbap, or keep in the fridge.
Cheers to eating your Veggies! {Mom would be so proud}
Love,
{and 5 minute fixes},

Thank you =)
i adore korean food, and it’s always a game to me to see what banchan we’ll get when we go out to eat. my favorite, other than the stir fried anchovies, is a sweetish potato salad. i attempted to make it once at home, and it’s actually one of my more hit upon posts, and tho it was edible, it just was not the same as what i’m used to.
It’s like you KNOW that I have broccoli sitting in my fridge. AWESOME.
Hi Angie, Delicious quickie meal in 5 mins and 5 steps. I love it and good for full time working mother like me who still prepared 3 meals before and after work.
Love your video, you’re excellent.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog with your lovely comments. Glad to meet you and I’m following you, will be back to read your previous posting.

. Thanks for coming over too, truly appreciate the support. I’m off to further explore your recipes. Have a great week! Cheers, Jo
That broccoli salad looks fabulous–and I love that it’s so quick to prepare.
You really do need your own television show. There is one with only 5 ingredients currently. Your 5 minute fix is even better! The fact that you already make your own videos and are a natural will just help you in showbiz
LOVE LOVE LOVE the video!! You are a natural at this, my friend
And the egg crate thing is a great idea!
Oh, I like 5- or 10-minute fixes! These are life savers when I’m having a busy mommy day! I have some frozen Korean rice cakes right now. Gotta do something with those!
YUM!
Sounds delicious
SO delicious
I’m a late bloomer to the veggie bandwagon (yes my Mom wasnt so happy with me growing up…hahaha)…& your post all the more made me happy to convert to a veg life!!

lol, poor Mom…I suppose the silver lining here is that at least you weren’t the “I’ve never eaten anything but chicken nuggets” lady
Hooray–I have lots of CSA broccoli now!
YAAAY!
i know this is gonna taste soooo good ^^ now to find some brocolli! hmmm.. do you think this could work with cucumbers? ^^
It would work with any veggie (my mom likes to sprinkle salt on the slices-wait, and squeeze out excess moisture for cucs).
What a great, quick dish! I love broccoli, too. Thanks for sharing!
It’s a battle between Broccoli, Kale, and Spinach for me. Thank YOU! =)

Hope your little one isn’t too turned off by the kick (maybe reduce it to 1 or 2 tb, instead) lol
That broccoli looks soooo darn good. Love your blog, love Korean food.. You have fabulous style darling.
Says the oh-so-Ms.Fabulous! ^.~
Great collection of recipes!
why thank ya =)
I love Korean side dishes. Since I don’t have access to Korean food where I am, I’ll have to learn how to make it. Do post more side dishes recipe. Do you have a good kimchi recipe as well?
If you click on Bibimbap, it will lead you to at least 4 more and in my recipe index tab, there are a plethora of Korean dishes to choose from. Happy eating!! =)
I suppose I will have to break down and order some Gochujang online b/c I still can’t find it here, not even in my Asian market. Been looking for over a year! And I really would like to try this. We have a broccoli salad in the midwest that has a mayo-based sauce and has onions, raisins, cheddar cheese, bacon, and sunflower seeds in it. I think the Korean version sounds just as good…and much healthier.
It’s always tough to choose between a Korean or American counterpart. I think I love both equally =)
All things from the sea are great and many are good for us and tasty Angie.I have tried and love all the fishies, squid , etc you have here , LOVE EM ALL!! Very heakthy , colorful, easy dishes here Angie! Love the various colors( ESPECIALLY THE GREEN) on your finger nails in the videos.
OOOOOOOOOOO! my!! Naked broccoli waiting to be dressed ? Lol. Well I love it and all vegies. Not as a child I did not.
Have a great day!!
Les.
