Author: The Squishy Monster
Serves: 2 Servings
Ingredients
- 2 tb unsalted butter
- ½ c veggies {I used celery/onions}
- 2 tb unbleached flour
- 1 c crab meat {lump is best but use what you can get, I used claw}
- 2 c warm whole milk
- Salt and pepper
- ¼ ts freshly ground nutmeg
- 2 tb dry sherry {optional}
Instructions
- In a pot, melt and brown the butter {keep your eye on it and swirl it around until it turns golden and smells nutty}.
- Sautee the veggies in it until slightly softened {I personally like mine with a bit of a bite}.
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir to coat. You want to stir until there are no flour lumps.
- Add in the crab.
- Slowly pour in the warm milk and stir.
- Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg and bring to a slow bubble. It will thicken as it cooks.
- Splash in sherry if using at the end and serve.

I can see how this recipe would become a family favorite, Angela. After a day of shoveling or playing outside you can just whip it up all in the same pan. I’m sure I’ll be shoveling tomorrow, lol…I must remember to buy some crab meat ASAP! Thank you so much for sharing…”See” you in a couple of weeks:)
Good luck, Louise. We’ll miss you!!

Oh love quick recipes for sure and what a bonus with crab meat in it, looks great and will make this soon!
I hope you enjoy it, Evelyne!
Anything so comforting that can be made in only 15 minutes has my attention! Love the simplicity of this. It seems like an excellent thing to use chopped seitan in for a quick vegan fix.
Yes, that would be awesome!
So glad i bookmarked this!! I had leftover crab and this was the perfect way to use it up. It will now also be a family favorite for my family – thank you!
That’s awesome, Caroline! Thanks for letting me know. I hope you’re enjoying your holiday weekend!
