  1. Sunshine & Seafood

June 18, 2012 by The Squishy Monster

New Smyrna certainly had its small town charm, touristy appeal, and fried seafood galore.  I wasn’t able to make it to Disney World this time around but I’m certain when I finally go, it’ll be epic (do you think a Squishy Monster could be a Disney Mascot? lol).

One of my friends got proposed to in this way.  Kudos to him for not only spelling out “will you marry me,” but spelling out her name Anastastia as well, all while hunched over, trying to make all the words large, even and deep enough.

Flowers I picked for myself.  (FYI, I prefer to receive Chocolates) =D

There are a few things I find amusing about this snap shot.  First, I used to watch Bob Ross all the time when I was bored.  He was accidentally funny all the time and there was something so soothing about watching him work.  I can understand his passion for his art so well because it’s the passion I have for food.  Second, there’s a completely uninspired restaurant next door, simply called “China.”  It seems that exercising even the slightest measurement of thought was too difficult in order to come up with a better name, lol.  Third, there’s a motorcycle rushing past and the 2 women didn’t even flinch, as if it’s that commonplace.  Geez, where I live, you can’t even skateboard without getting a citation.

Mm, YUM!  I think I could eat 3 dz in one sitting all by myself =D

Pretty much the worst thing ever.  Negligible, briny (and oily) shrimp, nearly drowning in a thick muddied mess of “aioli” (really, just soured mayo glopped on haphazardly on a stale bun) with wilted ice berg and soggy tomatoes.  Yucky, not yummy.

    Unimpressive spread of Swordfish Tacos.

After bouts of mediocre dining at several self-proclaimed “bests!”, I settled down with some homemade whole wheat penne with pesto and goat cheese with simple, grilled free-range chicken.  Satisfying, inexpensive, and quick.

I hope that everyone was able to spend Father’s Day with their Superman.

I’m currently putting finishing touches on the video I’ll be posting tomorrow ;)

As Bob Ross would say “… I’d like to wish you happy (eating) painting, and God bless my friend.”

    XOXO

  2. A Flower from a Princess

May 2, 2012 by The Squishy Monster

I’m watching my “Niece” this week.  She’s basically Family because of how close our Families are.  She’s the quintessential girl…everything from her room to personal sense of style boasts all things sparkly and pink.  For me, it’s a strange and beautiful thing to witness such a constant whirl of pretty, Strawberry scented Fairy Dust.  I was the only girl in my Family and really learned to appreciate the rare moments of solitude I could get with “girl” stuff without having a micro scaled World War III erupt between my Barbies and my Brothers Army Men.  I find myself mirroring her exuberant smile as she flits from one place to another, excitedly bursting at the seams about so and so, or showing me her curly q’s on her cursive writing assignment.  It’s a World unbeknownst to me…all that Hello Kitty and glitter-packed lip-gloss.  I haven’t decided if I want to have Kids or not, but watching her stomp through life in her too-cute fringed cow-girl booties, makes me believe, if only for a second that there are those in life (like Children) that are as pure and as beautiful as the pink Flower she plucked for me.

Thanks Stinker (or so we affectionately refer to her as) =D

Tomorrow shall bring another video!!  Going to make mini Meatballs for a supper for 2.

    XOXO

  3. Spring has Sprung!!!

March 21, 2012 by The Squishy Monster

Officially, it began yesterday but a). I snapped these shots yesterday and b). it’s been unusually warm for the latter part of Winter anyways.  The Sun makes me happy and it’s my dream to live somewhere someday where it’s a nice 65-70 all year round = ahhhhhh ;)

…and here’s Mr. Evil Bunny just in time for Easter but nibbling away at Dads plants.  He’s evil and crazy brave bc he allowed me to get soooo close to him to snap a shot.

I love alfresco dining best.  I’m looking forward to asking for patio seating at restaurants, taking Picnics at the Park, going Swimming, and overall just spending more time outdoors.  I’m thrilled that my flip flops can now come out of hibernation, too!

Bunnies & Flowers, all things that echo Spring
    and damn happy for it!!!

    XOXO

  4. Gettin’ Sexy for a Sexy Friday Night…

December 31, 2011 by The Squishy Monster

    Ah-NO! (or do I mean Ah-Choo)?!

My nose hurts, won’t stop running (I think there’s a joke about that, I forget…lol)… and I’ve lost my voice.  Being sick sucks.  Aside from the incessant body aches, super sexy physical inflictions involving a Rudolph Red Nose and puffy everything…there’s this sneaky bastard that sneaks up on you carrying a thick blanket of depression when you’re already much too hot and you’re too tired to fight it off.  I think it’s the fact that you’re practically quarantined in your room, defeated into a weakened state, drunk with too much sleep to even drag yourself downstairs to fix yourself a sandwich.  It’s the feeling of helplessness most often associated with infants or those waaay past retirement age.  You feel silly and have the will to get up and do as you normally do but your stubborn body won’t allow you.  You start feeling resentful that you’ve now watched the infomercial for Jack Lalanne’s power juicer! like a million times and that your butt hurts from just sitting there and you feel brittle and too wet all at the same time (ya feel me)?

Baby brother is home visiting from College so that’s always a bright ray of sunshine for me even on the darkest and gloomiest of days.  He also made Deans List (which is one of my most favorite Christmas Presents)!  A special someone also came and made me homemade Soup,

brought me Cookies, and these darling things.

Pink is my favorite color –and it happens to be the color of my nose at the moment!

Also, I eventually made it downstairs and was nearly hanging off the couch 1/2 bored and about to go crazy and 1/2 feeling sorry for myself.  I must have fallen asleep but awoke to someone ringing the crap out of my doorbell.  I think at first, I dreamed it.  It eventually blended into reality.  When I went to open it, the UPS lady kind of shrank back and wrinkled her nose for a quick millisecond of a moment…I promise.  And it most definitely is not a hallucination on account of the many meds I’d taken earlier.  Promise…lol.

    I got this:

Bundled in thick, creamy boxes and tucked in delicate rice paper I received the most gorgeous Embroidered Hand Mirror set complete with an Embroidered Phoenix Jewelry Box.  Both Traditional Korean pieces I won via blogging for Korea Taste  It’s like a belated Christmas present!  You betchya it put a great big smile on my face!

These made the journey all the way from Korea.  The hand mirror features a pair of ducks hand stitched on the back.  It symbolizes eternal true love.  It’s said that if one of them passes, the other never has eyes for anyone else and dies very soon thereafter.  It’s tradition for a Groom to send such a mirror to his Bride before the wedding “as an expression of love” reads the tag that came with my mirror.

My box is embroidered with a BONGHWANG: which is said to be the most beautiful and mysterious of birds….it lives only in paulownia coreana and was used often in the Imperial Court to represent Longevity and Happiness.

Korea Taste even wrote me a card =D

These are both apparently hand woven with silk threads and both are suppose to bring me luck!

So sickness…you nasty thing–ya heard!!  I’ve got some authentic Korean Keepsakes that’ll kick your butt if you don’t leave—sooooon!!!
