That pretty much sums up the week thus far.

    Yes, please!

After reviewing these pics, I scratch that ^

This chronicles 3 days of food, LOL.

I’m off to spend quality time with my family!

  2. You Can’t Have Everything?

July 8, 2012 by The Squishy Monster

I was recommended by many fellow bloggers not to divulge “too much.”  Now if I listened to everyone, I’d have platinum blonde hair, maybe would’ve jumped off a bridge, and never be as close as I am to you guys.  I’m not so much into the 101 rules of seduction in the Lana del Rey way and maybe it’s not “what the people want,” but Jimmy cracked corn…

I can’t tell you how many messages I get that tell me that I look so happy 24/7 and that my life seems perfect.  o.m.g.  This is completely incorrect.  I’ve addressed this before but perhaps it’s because food just makes me that happy and in The Squishy Monster world, everything revolves around food but alas, allow me to point out that food can’t lean in for a big hug, keep you warm and snuggle with you on cold nights, or make you laugh or smile.  That is, unless you’re smiley fries =)

I crave romance.  I’m starved for it.

Confession #862, I’ve never been in love.  I suppose my Prince Charming doesn’t have a GPS or smart phone…yeah, that’s what it is…

I realize that different things happen for people at different times but I find myself drifting off into la-la land wondering what it would be like to live the rest of my days with a best friend-a partner.  My friends share stories about butterflies-in-their-stomach-palms-slick-face-flushed excitement and it leaves me to wonder, did I forget to care for my butterfly properly?  Is it sick, gone, away?

So, while my friends were out on fancy dates at fancy restaurants, in their fancy new dresses, I sat at home and listened to this:

Kaskade – Your Love Is Black (HQ)

So no people, I do not moonlight as the energizer bunny.  Sometimes, I sit on my bed and set up a personal Squishy bed-island buffet and just go hard on a bag of chips…or 3 :/

Don’t feel sorry for me though, until we find each other (or I get a pony, whichever comes first)…

TOTALLY kidding about the pony people, lol

I will continue on with my ménage à trois–just me, my videos and blog.  They seem pretty happy with me.  I take care of them and keep them well fed, after all ;)

All that and a bag of chips,

    Your Squishy Monster

p.s. I LOVE all the feedback y’all have been giving me.  I even write them down in a little book.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I love you all (and hope you love me back) =D

  3. Random Illustrations of My Weekend

April 2, 2012 by The Squishy Monster

There was (of course) a lot of Food

Oysters (twice) because I love them so much!!

New York Strip (rare) with Pommes Purée (they’re just Mashed Potatoes) and I think that alone should have been an indication of what was to come.  Pretentious food at pretentious prices.  My Steak was sooo expensive and not very good :(   <–insert the appropriate sad, upset face here!

Pud Khana at my favorite Thai joint.  As always, delish!  I always ask for Shrimp, 5 Stars and I guess depending on who’s in the back making it, sometimes it’s so fiercely spicy your eyes start to tear up and you have to ask for extra napkins while other times, it’s so mild, you wonder if the Waitress forgot to ring it in as “extra spicy.”  Either way, I find the smell of Thai Food to have such a heady aroma, it makes my whole body tingle in anticipation for my spiced and spicy fix.  Crazy as it sounds, it’s very true =D

I picked this up as an impulse purchase at Trader Joe’s and gosh, it’s delicious!  It tastes like Chocolate Cake, in a bar!

This is my Friend’s refrigerator.  They don’t have anything edible in their Fridge except endless bottles of Pellegrino.  I couldn’t stop laughing.  Oh and a single lost bottle of Champagne to keep them company.  Love it.

Even these fictional graffiti people found love *sigh* though, doesn’t it look like she’s grabbing him inappropriately?  (no, just me)?  ^.^

I was told that this Mural depicts actual townspeople.  That’s so cool.  I wish I could be immortalized on a public wall so that random Asian girls could snap a photo and blog about it, LOL

    Classic.

On the right, is the Mural.  On the left is the Fire Department.  On the same Street are like 4 bars.  My friend wanted to know what I was doing, lol.

I fantasize about sultry summer nights, dining al fresco in my backyard with beautiful, gleaming lights strung up on the branches of all the trees that live in my backyard.  Maybe some Paella or Tortellini in a thick cheese sauce, or Cherry Pie while you listen to the birds go crazy (as they always seem to do at allll hours of the night).  Silly birds, Cherry Pie is just for Squishy Monsters! =D

Maybe I’m a crazy bird who never wants to go to sleep.

    Hm, maybe.

    Love you.

    and you.

    XOXO

    Your Squishy Monster  ^.^

  4. Just another Manic Monday…

March 12, 2012 by The Squishy Monster

    No not really, lol.

Today, I have a rare day off.  Baby Brother is home for Spring Break and my other Baby Brother is leaving for the Netherlands today.  The whole family got together to Skype after dinner last night and it still hasn’t settled in for any of us that he’s leaving the Country.

Daniel, may you have a safe and happy journey.  I hope that this is yet another exciting chapter of your life and that it’s a wildly wonderful experience.  May you be happy and well, have lots of fun, eat lots of interesting things, establish incredible, life long relationships and make amazing memories.  I love you, Daniel.

So far today, I’ve cleaned the house, baked Brownies, gotten my oil changed, had Pad Thai for like the 10th time in 2 weeks (this is only a sliiiight exaggeration), and run a bunch of errands…Groceries, Target, Michaels… and I finally have a new toothbrush…yay!  This last sentence reminds me of the dynamic between me and David (my youngest brother).  He thinks it’s silly that I get so excited about such small things.  Just a 5 minute conversation with him is a loud reminder of how I’m getting older as he seems to be getting younger (obviously not true–he is only 7 years younger) but having raised him and seeing him through diapers to college makes the age gap seem even that much more significant.  He listens to music and uses slang that I obviously am not “cool enough” to be down with, LOL.  I find myself saying “kids these days…”  I find his fresh and free outlook on life to be fascinating.

We chit chatted about such things over preparations for Dinner last night…
the band “Fun” was discussed while brushing an egg wash for Brie en Croute (bc that’s how we roll, LOL)
….what’s even funnier is that his current favorite song is “We are Young”

We also had Cheesy Taters, Garlicky Salmon, and Green Beans with flaked Almonds–yum, yum!

Sunday Suppers with Arrivals & Departures,

    Love,

    Your Squishy Monster
